Role on HeadLine
Project Officer
I joined Headline in February 2001 for the
Operational Roll-Out phase of the project and assisted with the maintenance of
the Personal Information Environment (PIE) pages as well as the maintenance of
other pilot services developed by Headline. During this extension period I also
assisted in the study of PIE performance, evaluating the operationalisation
process and collecting qualitative data through the use of focus groups and
structured questionnaires.
Previous Experience
I
have been employed in the Library at the London School of Economics for
approximately 2 and a half years but only recently joined the Headline Project
team. Prior to this I worked in the Acquisitions Department and was responsible
for receiving new items to the library. This involved loading item details on
to the library system, creating orders and occasionally amending bibliographic
records. This post also involved liaising with our book suppliers in order to
keep up-to-date with title changes and books no longer in print. In addition to
office-based tasks I worked on the service counters assisting with user
enquiries and issuing materials.
Interests
I have been
studying at the University of North London
for an MA in Literature, Representation and Modernity. Research interests
include representations of Englishness in literature, sparked initially by my
reading of the novel England, England by Julian Barnes. My final dissertation focuses
primarily on this novel as well as other works by Barnes and novels by Graham
Swift.
Other interests include swimming, running and yoga. I have been
swimming and running for quite a few years and completed the London Marathon in
1996. I have also run several half marathons including the Nottingham Half
Marathon and the Great North Run. I have also participated in a duathlon in
Birmingham.
